Christmas Goodies

Posted by Lindsey on Friday | December 31, 2010 | 6:25 pm

I don’t know when it happens, and perhaps it’s when you get married, the concern for another person and a home, but my favorite gift this year…sheets. Sheets! That’s lame! But it totally was. We had super cheap sheets, thin ones, ones that got bumps on it after only a few washes, that would move around easily and I grew to enjoy them less everyday. When I opened the nice sheets, I just about wept. And then I thought, what has happened to me? What once was my joy, such as an iPhone or new outfit or a hovercraft, has now become sheets. Who knew that would happen so fast? It was kind of a “where are you Christmas” sort of feeling. Not really, but it felt like my delight in Christmas gifts shifted. My two other favorites, which also land in this category, are my new bread maker and individual pie maker. I tested both of these out with my brother and his girlfriend, Nicolette. I made dough in the bread maker and berry pie in the pie maker. I loved these gifts and they have already been so fun. Christmas 2010 was a great one, spent with Crams and Pierces alike, and this Christmas I think I might have become a woman.

Tradition

christmas churchOur tree is up! We found our first tree while decorating the Pierce tree. I asked my dad where the small little 4 foot tree we had once as decor, and the next thing I knew we had a tree, along with lights and ornaments offered to us. It is small, it is plastic, but it is ours….so I love it. While decorating the tree, Kevin and I talked about traditions we want to have in our family. I loved the fact that this is the first Christmas for our new little family will have, and we have the freedom to set up any traditions we want. We are starting from square one, clean slate! Whatever we want, we could do, and we could do it year after year, together. How beautiful and exciting is that. I am so excited for our first Christmas, to discover what things I do this year for the first time will be something I do with Kev every year for the rest of my life.
